Charities and Causes We Aim to Support

Membership funds what we do for our members. As the Fellowship grows, part of what we raise is directed outward — as grants to organisations and people whose work furthers our own objects.

Giving

Giving Beyond Membership

Membership funds what we do for our members. But we want the Fellowship's resources to reach further — to charities, community groups, researchers and individuals doing work that strengthens families, communities and the things we exist to protect.

As the Fellowship grows, part of what we raise through membership, donations and events will be directed outward: as grants to organisations and people whose work furthers our own objects.

Criteria

What We Look For

We look for work that sits close to our own objects, not scale or profile.

  • Family and community mutual aid. Organisations supporting new parents, vulnerable families, and people facing hardship or isolation.
  • Education and skills. Initiatives building practical skills, knowledge and self-reliance in local communities.
  • Research, journalism and advocacy. Independent work examining the trends and institutions shaping community life in the UK, and lawful advocacy for community cohesion and free expression.
  • Culture and heritage. Projects that preserve and pass on shared history and traditions.

Process

How Grants Are Decided

Grant decisions are made by our directors, guided by our Articles of Association and subject to proper due diligence, including checks consistent with anti-money-laundering requirements and, where relevant, charity law.

We don't guarantee funding to any organisation, and a grant in one year doesn't commit us to a grant the next — every decision reflects what best furthers our objects at the time. All of our income, including donations, is protected by an asset lock: it can only ever be applied to our objects, never distributed to our members.

Status

Not a Registered Charity

The Wyvern Fellowship is a company limited by guarantee, established for public benefit — we are not ourselves a registered charity, and we can't offer Gift Aid on donations made to us. What we can do is choose, carefully, where our own funds go next. See our Donations Terms for more on how donations to us are used.
