Code of Conduct

The Wyvern Fellowship Ltd · Last updated: 4 September 2026

This Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour we expect from everyone who takes part in the Wyvern community, meaning Fellows of every tier, National Fellows, Local Fellows and chapter participants, Journal Contributors, event attendees, and anyone posting or interacting in our online spaces (including our Discord and any comments sections). It is incorporated by reference into our Fellow Terms and our Website Terms of Use, and applies whether you are interacting with us online, at a chapter event, or elsewhere while identifiably representing yourself as part of Wyvern.

1. The standard

We expect everyone to:

  • Act lawfully. Do not use Wyvern's name, platforms or events to plan, encourage or carry out anything unlawful.
  • Treat others with respect. Disagreement, robust debate and open discussion of ideas, including on contested questions of culture, community and policy, are welcome and consistent with our objects. Harassment, bullying, hate speech, threats, or abuse directed at a person rather than an idea is not.
  • Protect others' safety and privacy. Do not publish another person's private information without their consent ("doxxing"), and take particular care in any activity involving families, children or vulnerable participants: follow the reasonable safeguarding instructions of chapter organisers and staff at all times.
  • Be honest about who you are and your authority. Do not impersonate anyone, misrepresent your role or status within Wyvern (including falsely claiming to be a National Fellow, Local Fellow, director or spokesperson), or purport to bind Wyvern or speak on its behalf without authority.
  • Respect confidentiality. Do not disclose internal, non-public Wyvern information you have access to as a Fellow, Local Fellow, volunteer or Contributor, except as your role requires.
  • Engage with our research and advocacy responsibly. If you use, cite or share Wyvern research or Journal content, do so accurately and do not misrepresent it. Our own research and advocacy rely only on publicly available information and lawful methods, consistent with Article 51 of our Articles of Association, and we expect the same of anyone contributing to it.
  • Follow event and chapter rules. At any Wyvern or chapter event, follow the venue's rules and the reasonable instructions of the organiser or Local Fellow on matters of safety and conduct.
  • Protect Wyvern's reputation and property. Do not use Wyvern's name, brand or platforms for personal commercial gain, fraud, or in a way likely to bring Wyvern into serious disrepute.

2. Individual views are not Wyvern's views

Fellows, National Fellows, Local Fellows, Contributors, event speakers and chapter organisers take part in our community as individuals. The opinions they express, in the Journal, on Discord, at events, or anywhere else while taking part in Wyvern's community, are their own personal views, not Wyvern's. We do not adopt, endorse or take responsibility for an individual's personal opinions merely because they hold a Fellow status, contribute to the Journal, or organise a chapter, and none of those roles carries any authority to state an official Wyvern position. We treat a statement as representing Wyvern only where a director has expressly adopted it, in writing, as an official position of the Company.

3. What happens if this Code is breached

3.1 Breach of this Code is a breach of the Fellow Terms (where you hold a subscription) and of our Website Terms of Use. Depending on the seriousness of the breach, we may:

  • give you an informal warning;
  • remove content you have posted;
  • suspend or remove your access to a chapter, event or online space;
  • suspend or terminate a paid subscription, with the process (and refund position) set out in the Fellow Terms; and/or
  • where you hold a National Fellow, Local Fellow or Fellow status under our Articles of Association, have that status suspended or removed by the directors, who retain absolute discretion over admission to and removal from those categories under Articles 10, 11, 12 and 13 of our Articles of Association.

3.2 Where there is an urgent safeguarding, legal, fraud or safety concern, or an ongoing serious breach causing harm to others, we may act immediately, without going through an informal stage first, consistently with clause 24 of the Fellow Terms.

3.3 We will act proportionately, take account of the context, and give you an opportunity to explain your position before reaching a final decision, except where the urgency described in clause 3.2 applies.

4. Reporting a concern

If you experience or witness behaviour that may breach this Code, please tell us using our Complaints Procedure, or where the matter is urgent and involves an immediate safety or safeguarding risk, contact us directly at [email protected] marked "urgent". Reports will be treated confidentially so far as possible and consistently with our need to investigate and to protect anyone at risk.

5. Changes to this Code

We may update this Code of Conduct at any time, for example to reflect lessons learned or a change in our activities. The version published on the Site is the one in force. Material changes will be flagged on this page.
